Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 17, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information HamGPT ("HamGPT", "we", "us") collects, how we use and share it, and your choices. HamGPT is operated by HamGPT (AK6FP) and is available at hamgpt.co.

1. Information we collect

Account & Google sign‑in. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and basic profile information (such as your name), through our managed authentication provider. We use this only to create and identify your account. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or any other Google data.

Station profile you provide. Your amateur‑radio callsign, Maidenhead grid locator (an approximate location, not a precise address), license class, and optional details about your station (radios, antenna), plus preferences like units and language.

Content you submit. The questions and messages you send to the assistant, and any logbook (ADIF) files you choose to upload.

Usage data. Basic technical and usage information needed to operate the service (e.g. requests, timestamps, error logs, and approximate usage counts for billing limits).

We do not intentionally collect special‑category personal data, and you should not submit it.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide the core service: personalized, actionable amateur‑radio assistance.
  • Validate a callsign you enter and compute distances/band conditions from your grid locator.
  • Generate answers by sending your question and a minimal, relevant context to third‑party AI providers (see Section 4).
  • Maintain accounts, enforce usage limits, secure the service, debug, and prevent abuse.
  • Communicate with you about your account or invitation.

3. Google user data — limited use

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Specifically: we use the Google account data (email and basic profile) only to authenticate you and operate HamGPT; we do not sell it, use it for advertising, or transfer it to others except as needed to provide the service or as required by law; and humans do not read it except for security, to comply with law, or with your consent.

4. How we share information (service providers)

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us run HamGPT, and only as needed:

  • Third‑party AI providers — receive the text of your question and the minimal context needed to generate an answer. We send the least information required — never your full profile or history — and the provider(s) we rely on may change over time.
  • Cloud infrastructure & authentication providers — for hosting, the database, managed sign‑in, and email delivery.
  • Live amateur‑radio data sources (including DXLook, dxlook.com) — queried for band and activity data, generally without identifying you.
  • Callsign verification services — used only to validate a callsign you choose to enter.

We may also disclose information to comply with the law or to protect rights and safety.

5. Data retention & deletion

We keep your account and profile data while your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and associated personal data at any time — just email us at . We will delete it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law.

6. Security

We use industry‑standard measures (encrypted transport, managed authentication, access controls). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Cookies & analytics

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in (session tokens) and to remember preferences (such as text size and theme). We use Google Analytics to understand how the service is used (which features help, where people get stuck) — it sets analytics cookies and records usage events. To do this we attach a pseudonymous account identifier (a random internal id, not your name) and a few non-identifying attributes (such as license class and language) so we can tell how different kinds of operators use the service. We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell your data, and we do not send Google Analytics your name, email, callsign, or location.

8. Children

HamGPT is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

9. International transfers

We operate primarily on infrastructure in the United States. If you access HamGPT from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries.

10. Your choices & rights

You can view and edit your profile in the app, change preferences, and request access, correction, or deletion of your data by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
