# HAMgpt

> HAMgpt (https://hamgpt.co) is a personal amateur-radio (ham radio) copilot — an AI assistant that, given an operator's license class, radio, antenna, and location plus what is on the air right now, tells them what to actually do today. Unlike a general-purpose chatbot, it is grounded in live data and never invents frequencies, CTCSS/DCS tones, repeater offsets, or license privileges.

HAMgpt is built for licensed and aspiring amateur-radio operators. It is:

- **Personalized** — it knows your license class, radio, antenna, and grid/QTH, and every answer respects your privileges and the bands your antenna actually covers.
- **Live** — it reads current band conditions, observed spots, propagation, space weather, DXpeditions, POTA/SOTA activity, and satellite passes right now, not from a model's memory.
- **Precise and honest** — frequencies, tones, offsets, and license privileges come from official/live data, never guessed; if it does not have something, it says so.

It currently covers the United States (FCC) plus several other countries' amateur license rules (e.g. Canada, UK, Australia, Japan, Argentina), and consumes live data from DXLook (https://dxlook.com), a companion propagation/DX site by the same author.

- Ask "what can I do with my radio right now?" for a personalized, live answer.
- See which HF/VHF/UHF bands are open from your location and who you can work.
- Find repeaters near you, with correct offsets and CTCSS/DCS tones.
- Discover live DXpeditions and POTA/SOTA activity you can realistically work with your antenna.
- Get satellite pass predictions for your location.
- Look up license privileges (bands, modes, power limits) by class and country.
- Design antennas (Yagi, dipole, vertical, magnetic loop) with real, to-scale dimensions.
- Practice for the amateur-radio license exam.
